What are limiting beliefs?
Limiting beliefs are the beliefs, thoughts, and opinions that hold us back. They are obstacles that we put in front of ourselves.
They are thoughts and facts that “justify” why you cannot do something.
They can be paralyzing because you’ve made up in your mind and accepted that a statement is true.
These negative beliefs can keep you from pursuing opportunities and reaching your full potential.
You want to do something but your mind tells gives you a reason why you can’t.
COMMON EXAMPLES:
- I’m too old to wear outfits like that.
- I don’t have time to learn new things.
- They don’t think I’m good enough for this job.
- I don’t have what it takes to do that.
Why are they so hard to overcome?
The tricky part about beliefs is that your subconscious is always on the lookout for reasons to validate a belief.
It will look for reasons to support your belief and what you seek, you will find.
Meaning that those beliefs will further solidify and embed themselves in your mind!
This is one of the many reasons why limiting beliefs can be so hard to get over.
They’re so ingrained in us, which is why you need to commit to doing deep self-work to get past them.

Limiting beliefs hold you back from your full potential because you create roadblocks for yourself.
The best way to get past these negative ideas about yourself is to face them head-on.
Challenge those thoughts instead of just automatically agreeing with them.
Practice mindfulness and start recognizing when you have thoughts that aren’t serving you.
So, repeat after me.
- I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE AND STAY AWARE OF MY THOUGHTS.
- I WILL QUESTION BELIEFS THAT AREN’T SERVING ME.
