How to get the most out of your self-reflection practice
Daily self-reflection is key to personal growth. Here are a few tips to ensure you get the most out of your reflection time:
- Ask questions. They can be simple or hard ones; the point is that questions help guide your thoughts. Use prompts to help you dive deeper into specific topics.
- Add it to your night routine. Reflect before bed while it’s fresh on your mind. This will also help you release unwanted thoughts from the day before bed.
- Be thorough. Take your time, focus, and dig deep. Really take the time to think about your answers.
- Identify actionable next steps. Finish your self-reflection by writing down an action plan that identifies the steps you need to take to move forward in a positive direction.
- Be completely honest about your current situation. Don’t sugarcoat or play down how you’re genuinely feeling. Be real, open, and vulnerable so that you can get to the crux of the situation.
- Release thoughts that aren’t serving you. Write them down, examine them, and let them go. Don’t allow yourself to be held back because of your thoughts.
