See below for itinerary details of places shown in this video.
📍Ride the Limited Express Yufuin No Mori from Hakata Station to Yufuin Station
Take one of Japan’s scenic trains, the Limited Express Yufuin No Mori, to Yufuin Floral Village in Oita.
It gets you to Yufuin from Hakata Station in two hours, making it the perfect day trip from Fukuoka.
The best part is that a JR Pass covers the ticket for this train! You will need to reserve your seats in advance, either online or in person, at a JR Station.
📍Yunotsubo Street
The route to the Floral Village from the station is pretty straightforward. You will walk up the main road that lies between Yufuin Station and Kinrin Lake.
Yufuin is a popular hot spring resort in Oita. The area is full of shops, museums, cafes, local crafts, and, of course, onsens.
📍Yufuin Floral Village
The Yufuin Floral Village–is a popular tourist destination for Ghibli fans because of its various movie references plus the village itself is really cute! The village was designed to resemble the Cotswolds area in England, which was the filming area for Harry Potter.

📍Kinrin Lake
Near the Floral Village, you’ll find a road that leads to Kinrin Lake. A picturesque lake that’s the perfect place to grab photos.
- Address: 1561-1 Yufuincho Kawakami, Yufu, Oita 879-5102, Japan
📍Izumi Soba
Grab lunch at the soba restaurant by the Lake. They have seating indoors and also have a patio with the best view of Lake Kinrin.

📍Snoopy Cafe & Walkthrough Yufuin
The entire area is filled with so many things to do. Walking around, you will stumble upon local treats, desserts, crafts, and more.
Japan is filled with so many little areas like this one. I recommend dedicating at least one day in your Japan travel itinerary for a day trip to a new area outside of where you’re staying.
