Podcast episodes can improve your mindset and change your life if you stumble across the right ones at the right time.
Technology and podcasts have given us access to some of the greatest minds of our time.
We have the opportunity to hear from a variety of people and learn about how they’ve overcome obstacles, built healthy mindsets, and achieved greatness.
Why podcasts?
Podcasts are easy to incorporate into your morning or night routine because you can listen to them as you’re getting ready or as you’re going to bed. You don’t have to stop what you’re doing.
But it can be hard to find the right episodes to resonate with when there are over 34 million podcast episodes and over 1.5 million podcast shows available as of October 2020!
So, I’ve decided to share the six podcast episodes that have changed my life and key takeaways I’ve learned from each of them!
These are the episodes I have bookmarked and downloaded on Spotify to listen to whenever I need a boost of motivation or mindset shift.
1. The Model Health Show #137: How To Instantly Shift Your Mindset And Master The Art of Living – With Guest Bob Proctor
Bob Proctor is a renowned speaker who helps people upgrade their mindset to reach their full potential.
This episode is my all-time favorite because Bob’s energy is magnetizing. You feel his high energy radiating through the speakers.
And he was 81 years young when he did this interview a couple of years ago!
But Bob has a firm belief that you should have more energy as you get older. You are what you think. You should not be “slowing down” when you have so much knowledge and potential to still give to the world.
I always come back to this episode because it reminds me that I have the power to choose my thoughts and behavior every day.
If you want something, you have to make up your mind and go for it.
Bob talks about the importance of discipline and following through with what you tell yourself to do.
Key takeaway:
Choose to do what you enjoy and give it everything you’ve got.
2. The Ultimate Health Podcast #039: Hal Elrod – The Ultimate Morning Routine
We’ve all heard over and over how highly successful people attribute their healthy minds and work ethic to:
- Meditation
- Reading
- Journaling
- Exercise
- Visualization
- Affirmations
But even after knowing this, many of us still do not incorporate these into our everyday routines. Why is that?
This episode is empowering because it reminds us that we have the power to choose what we do in the mornings.
We can either start our days mediocre or maximize our mornings and start our days in the best way possible!
If you’ve read my morning routine, you’ll see how heavily this podcast episode influenced how I start my days.
Key takeaway:
Wake up when you want to wake up, not because you “have to” wake up. Wake up because you’re motivated to work on your personal development so that you can become the person you desire to be.
3. The MindValley Podcast – Magic Formula To Stay Motivated At All Times – Jim Kwik
Jim Kwik is one of the top experts in our brain, memory, speed reading, and more!
In this powerful episode, Jim talks about how our mindset is guided by what we think we deserve.
My favorite quote from this episode is, “If you fight for your limitations, you get to keep them.”
He stresses how our mind eavesdrops on our self-talk.
So, if we’re always saying or thinking, “I’m too old” or “I’m not good enough,” then that’s what we will believe in our minds, and our minds shape our reality.
We need to get out of our thinking habits and create a new reality by getting past our limiting beliefs.
Listen to this episode if you want to learn Jim’s magic formula to stay motivated and follow through with your goals.
Key takeaway:
If you knew how powerful your mind was, you wouldn’t say or think or feel something you didn’t want to be true.
4. Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday – Amy Purdy: The Power of Visualization
Amy Purdy lost both of her legs at age 19 as a result of bacterial meningitis.
She survived and went on to lead an extraordinary life full of accomplishments. To name a few, she was a Paralympic bronze medalist in snowboarding and was a finalist on “Dancing with the Stars.”
Amy tells us how she overcame many obstacles and “limitations” by choosing to live in the “now” and only focusing on what she had control over.
In this podcast episode, you’ll learn about the power of visualization and having the courage to rise above your circumstances.
Key takeaway:
If you can see it and if you believe it, then you can achieve it.
5. The Model Health Show #367 – The Truth About Hard Work and Why Success is About Elimination – With Guest Bo Eason
If we’re the authors of our own stories, then why are we writing crappy ones for ourselves?
This is the question Bo Eason poses in this episode, where he talks about how we are all born to be the best. We aren’t born to be (and should not strive to be) mediocre.
It’s totally possible to achieve whatever you put your mind to if you believe you’re the best. You must also eliminate the distractions that don’t support your beliefs.
When you strive to be the best, that’s the type of work you put in. If you start to downgrade your goals and dreams, then you won’t ever reach the top.
Key takeaway:
Be allergic to average, and always strive to be the best. Be unapologetic about it and eliminate the distractions and people in your life who don’t support your vision.
6. Mind Love #112 – Finding Your Purpose and Power with Mastin Kipp
This episode is perfect for those who are motivated but feel stuck. For those who have laid out a plan of attack but struggle to do the work.
Mastin Kipp talks about the power of understanding at an emotional level what’s driving your current behavior.
Once you’ve identified the root of what drives you, you can then learn new skills necessary to power forward.
He also talks about how past traumas take time to heal. But it’s essential not to continue to hold onto them or identify yourself through them.
Key takeaway:
Learn to identify what’s driving you at an emotional level and be conscious of how you use that to navigate life.
Key takeaways recap:
- Choose to do what you enjoy and give it everything you’ve got.
- Wake up when you want to wake up, not because you “have to” wake up. Wake up because you’re motivated to work on your personal development so that you can become the person you desire to be.
