behind the blog
how it all began
The moment that changed everything wasn’t 2020 itself. It was standing at a family party a year prior, realizing I had nothing to talk about outside of work. My job had become my whole life, and that didn’t sit right with me.
I’d already hit the first career goal I’d set for myself in advertising. And when I looked at what came next โ my boss’ role, more pressure, more hours โ I knew I didn’t want that future. So I asked myself a bigger question: what did I actually want my life to look like?
The answer led me to blogging. Not because I set out to be a “creator,” but because it gave me something I hadn’t had in years: ownership of my time and space to actually be present in it.
When international travel wasn’t an option yet, I started exploring LA like a tourist in my own city โ which became the spark for travel content. Then Japan opened up, and a month-long trip with my dad to the place I was born but never raised in, changed everything. It taught me how to slow down and wander, and it’s still shaping how I travel today.
About Me
hey, i’m remi
Japanese American, born in Fukuoka, raised in LA โ and a firm believer that the best moments happen when you slow down enough to actually notice them. Whether I’m wandering a new city or having a quiet Tuesday at home, that’s the thread running through everything I do. Here, I share slow travel guides, itineraries, and a little inspiration to live more intentionally, wherever you are.
