The Journey to Becoming Fearless as a Creator

Hi friends! Today, a new โ€œAt Home Diariesโ€ vlog is available on my YouTube channel. Itโ€™s a chatty vlog where I spill my guts to you about this โ€œnew eraโ€ of vlogging for me, life lately, and where I geek out on the latest books Iโ€™m reading. No filter. I hope you enjoy getting to know me!

You can watch my new video here.

Letting Go and Becoming Fearless

A topic that kept coming up in my brain while filming this latest vlog was the act of โ€œletting goโ€ and justโ€ฆshowing up as I am (no matter what that looks like!).

When I started my journey as a creator, the biggest hurdle I had to overcome was one that I had self-imposed.

I had to get over myself and my ego.

See, I used to work at a creative advertising agency (on the account management side, NOT the creative side).

So, starting my own creative-driven business left me SO INSECURE.

I worked alongside some of the most brilliant creative minds in the industryโ€ฆ who was I to quit and try to be creative?!??

The fear of judgment held me back from going all out in the beginning. (For example, I created โ€œfacelessโ€ content that wasnโ€™t overtly tied to myself).

But the more I showed up for myself, the more confident I became.

I started to become more fearless.

โ€œFearless is not the absence of fear. Fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you.โ€

Taylor Swift

Eventually, I started just to let myselfโ€ฆbe. And lean into being as ME as possible.

I am so proud looking at how far Iโ€™ve come!

Now, I have numerous YouTube videos on the internetโ€”no makeup, hair wet and frizzy, eczema flares, and all! Iโ€™ve even cried on camera without makeup on.

Being fearless was not something that developed overnight.

It took work and YEARS of repeatedly deciding that my happiness was a priority over what other people may or may not think.

I wish you the same freedom from external validation, friend.

Thanks for listening to my random thoughts!
