Why I Became a Content Creator + My Mission Statement
Hey there! It’s been a while since I’ve written about my creator journey, and so much has changed/evolved on my website since I first started back in 2020. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how I started and talk about my current mission statement. Thanks for taking the time to read! ๐

Why I Became a Creator
My content creator journey started in 2020. At this time, I was an advertising agency account manager whose life revolved around work. I liked my job a lot. It gave me the opportunity to work alongside some of the most creative and thought-provoking people. The creative we produced gave me invaluable production experience that continues to help me to this day.
The problem was: I didnโt know how to have โwork life balance.โ My life revolved around work. At first, this was fine. I was just starting out and had a goal of becoming a Supervisor within a certain time frame. But once I hit that goal, I looked up and realized I didnโt want to continue โlivingโ my life like this. Time felt like it was passing me by, and all I had to show for it was my work achievements.
It took a life-changing trip to Japan for me to realize that there was so much more life to live outside of work. Now that may seem like a no-brainer statement, but at the time, it felt like I was on a hamster wheel. I didnโt know how to stop the momentum of my current lifestyle and make time to figure out what the heck I actually wanted to do with my life. (Can you relate to this?)
2020 forced me out of my regular routine. It made me slow down and begin to think about what life could be like after advertising. The unpredictability of life was on full display that year, and it created the urgency needed for me to start making moves to change my life.
Without getting into details, hereโs a summary of what I did next:
- Identified what was important to me and what my ideal life looked like.
- Slowed down to research how to get that exact life.
- Worked secretly on a blog.
- Decided to take the leap and go full force after my dreams.
(You can learn more about my journey in this video.)
I now live a life built around making my dreams happen. Thereโs no need to balance work and life because itโs all one and the same.
But you donโt need to quit your job to make this happen. So many people LOVE their jobs and the work theyโre doing. Or, their jobs are a means to an end, and they know how to balance both. I knew that with my personality type and the type of job I was in, it was necessary to free up my time/mind/etc. to pursue my dream.
My Mission as a Creator
I didnโt know what type of creator I wanted to be at first. Eventually, I discovered my love of vlogging, but, at the time, during the pandemic, travel wasnโt an option for me. Thatโs when I started to vlog my experiences around Los Angelesโ my hometown! It made me realize that I didnโt have to travel outside of my city to enjoy life or find new adventures. There were places to be discovered all around me!
My mission is to encourage people to be tourists in their own cities by sharing my experiences with the world.
Youโll discover places to visit in Los Angeles/Southern California and get an understanding of what itโs like to live in LA. Iโll also take you with me as I continue to learn more about Japan and my Japanese heritage.
Thank you for being here and for taking the time to get to know me better!
