During the planning stagesโฆ
- Set an intention for the party.ย Before you start party planning, take a moment to reflect on WHY you want to throw this party. What is your intention with throwing this party? What will be the best possible outcome for this event? How do you want people to feel?
- Set a budget.ย Be realistic about whatโs possible for your party. You want to avoid overwhelming yourself to the point that you never want to host again.ย
- Create a plan of attack.ย Start party planning based on your budget and your intention. Once you know what you want to do, create an organized to-do list of everything needed for the party.
- Delegate and accept help.ย Take on one big thing and then delegate all the more minor details. Allow others to pitch in and help – also, donโt be afraid to ask for help!ย
During the partyโฆ
- Carry your party checklist with you.ย Print out your to-do list and have it handy in case any last-minute questions or thoughts arise. Keeping it close will allow you to stay present and have peace of mind that your action plan (with the answers to everything) is close by.ย
- Eat mindfully.ย Eat slowlyย and thoroughly enjoy all the special holiday/event food that you donโt typically get to eat. Be mindful of where your food came from and appreciate the homemade taste of the food people took the time to make.ย
- Listen to others and speak mindfully.ย Be present when youโre with other people. People feed off your energy. It can be easy to get distracted, especially when youโre the host, but make sure to give your guests your full attention when possible. Appreciate their presence.ย
- Slow down and enjoy the moment.ย Your guests will want you to have a good time as well! They will notice if youโre busy running around. Slow down. Allow others to help so that you can appreciate your party as well!
- Remember WHY you are hosting.ย When things get stressful, stop and remind yourself of WHY youโre hosting. Remember your intention for the party.ย
After the party
- Reflect on how the party went. Take time afterward to give yourself a big olโ pat on the back for a job well done! Relish in the feeling of a mission complete!
