Time Management Tips:
Remove distractions.
Tidy up your space so that you can focus on the task at hand.
A messy environment can drain and distract you. Create an environment that inspires and energizes you.
Batch your tasks.
Do similar tasks during a designated period. Use digital calendars, like Google Calendar or iCal, to time block your day.
Pro tip: color coordinate your batches.
For example, in my calendar, I have different colors for “personal,” “computer tasks,” “self-care breaks,” and more!
Set deadlines.
Write down when you’d like to have each task completed, and then stick to it. Mark these down in a calendar so you can visually see when things are due.
Calendars will give you a visual reminder of what’s due when.
It will also give you a bird’s eye view of upcoming events to plan around and help you manage when you do what.
Stop multitasking.
Focus intensely on one task at a time. Give it your full attention and finish it before moving on.
Pro tip: Set a timer for deep work. Take five-minute breaks between sessions.
Finish complex tasks first.
Know when you are most productive and finish your more challenging tasks then.
Our brains are freshest in the morning for most of us because we tend to get tired in the afternoon.
Protect your energy.
Learn to say ‘no’ to things that drain you. Protect your time and energy.
Prioritize what matters most to you and build your schedule around it.
Find ways to automate or lower the lift for the non-negotiable things that you may not like to do.
